Some jobs — a studio with a mattress and a few boxes, a partial move where the couch is staying — are cheaper billed by the hour than boxed into a flat band. We run three crew sizes:

• 3 movers: $179/hr
• 4 movers: $229/hr

Why Jersey City Pricing Isn’t Just About Square Footage

A 700-square-foot unit on the 32nd floor of a Newport tower and a 700-square-foot unit in a Journal Square walk-up are not the same job. The tower has one freight elevator serving forty floors, shared with every other tenant moving that week, and building management wants a certificate of insurance before they’ll hold a slot. The walk-up has three flights of narrow stairs and no elevator at all.

Packing, If You Want the Boxes Handled Too

Not every move needs a full pack. Plenty of Hudson County households do their own boxes and just want the furniture, the truck, and the crew. But if the kitchen, the closets, or a fragile-item collection is more than you want to wrap yourself, Marcus prices full or partial packing separately from the flat move figure.

A typical one-bedroom kitchen and closet pack runs somewhere in the $150–$250 range in materials and labor; a full three-bedroom pack with crating for anything fragile runs higher, priced once Marcus has actually seen what needs wrapping. Either way, it’s quoted in writing before move day, not estimated out loud over the phone.

Booking and Holding Your Date

Angela Pellegrino handles booking once Marcus has your figure locked in. A deposit reserves your crew size, your truck, and — if you’re in a high-rise — your freight elevator window with building management, which some towers require days in advance.

Does the flat rate include stairs? Yes — once we’ve walked the space or seen it on video, stairs and reasonable carries are already in the number.

Do you charge extra for the freight elevator? No, but we do need to book the window with your building in advance, which is why an early call matters more in a high-rise than in a house.

What does storage cost if my closing date slips? $120 a month at our own Communipaw Ave warehouse — not a third-party facility we’re just renting space from.

Is last-minute booking realistic in Jersey City? For a ground-floor or walk-up move, often yes. For a high-rise, we need enough lead time for Angela to clear a freight elevator window with building management — same-day is rarely possible once a tower is involved.
